you know how most alien species that attack earth are portrayed as these monsters that travel from planet to planet consuming all resources and destroying all life?

usually the first planet they ruin is their home planet

and every so often i get this needling thought that is becoming my greatest nightmare: 

humanity is going to become an intergalactic plague of locusts 

the monsters of our stories were us all along

even better, you have a movie with these misshapen monsters attacking earth so they can have our resources. Their computers are a little too compatible with ours, they can breath our air just fine, certain symbols are the same on their control consoles. Then you realize slowly these monsters ARE us, from the future or a parallel time stream, they’ve used up so many planets already and over thousands and thousands of years they’ve been hopping between dimensions so they can use earth up AGAIN and AGAIN.

Evolution has adapted them to live in the low gravity environment of spaceships, or made them stronger in order to fight OTHER humans but they’re still us, doing what we’ve always been doing, using up the planet and leaving the mess for someone else.

there is an anime like this.  I don’t know what the real name was, but I saw it as a kid under the name “S-1″.
