Step 1) should always be to turn off Geotagging on your phone. Take care of that and the majority of any worries are dealt with. For further piece of mind though

This is seriously important. 

I see a lot of people, especially women on Tumblr, who still have the GPS data still embedded in the pictures they post here. 

That means anybody on the internet can see exactly where you live because most of the pictures you’re posting were taken at home. 

The option to turn off Geotagging varies from phone to phone but is generally done by opening your camera app, going to settings, and then disabling geotagging.
