Thief-taker, Rust had called him. The man had meant it as an insult, but it’d do. Theft was the only crime, whether the loot was gold, innocence, land or life.

i like this passage because as far as i can recall this is not a morporkian ideology? it’s either omnian or klatchian (or both) but as we’ve seen murders in a-m tend to get classified as ‘suicides’ if the people killed showed little sign of self-preservation (even though this changes after men at arms) but vimes isn’t working completely off the a-m manual anymore which he definitely was in both guards guards and men at arms like he pretends not to be specist when he very very clearly IS and that is GREAT because he doesn’t STAY that way from feet of clay onwards he isn’t allowed to get away with thinking like that because every day his assumptions are challenged by the people around him like in g!g! and MaA he liked to darkly lampshade just how messed up a-m is but it’s only *really* in FoC when he begins to decide to challenge it and not be a part of it i’m so proud sam vimes Discworld @the-tao-of-fandom
