I really want to write a math textbook called The Adventures Of F: Functions and their Functions.  It would star a robot named F, whose job is to turn things into other things, and specifically turn numbers into other numbers.

It would be concept-based instead of memorization-based.  It would explain things on a level that my tutoring students could understand.  It would not lie to them about what even and odd functions are.  It would introduce limit theory and calculus and the trig function chapter would be all about how robot F really likes pie.

Why are functions taught to be so confusing!  There are lots of complicated functions out there, but at base they are the simplest concept ever.  All math education in this country is bad and it makes me sad.

I don’t think this is exactly the same but you should look at Life Of Fred.
