it’s quick (10 questions) and mostly multiple choice. I would very, very, very much appreciate it!! & if 100 people answer, I will buy Pangur a SECOND tiny hat!
I have been through many copyright infringement cases – some have been resolved amicably, and there are ones that have taken more work. This case against Old Navy (Gap) is not getting resolved right now because Old Navy is denying copyright infringement.
They are being totally unapologetic, and have said that it would be a “bad business decision” for me to expect to be reasonably compensated for the use of my art. Instead of compensating me, they have chosen to pay a large law firm to fight me, andhave even asked the judge to order me to pay THEIR legal fees.
When a company as large and mainstream as Old Navy steals my art and profits from it, and is unapologetic about it, I cannot afford NOT to fight this. My lawyers and I will be fighting this for as long as it takes.
Thank you for all your support. Please feel free to repost this!
I saw a sad facebook post from the gay bookstore back in Ann Arbor where I used to live about how they hadn’t sold any books that day so I went on their online store and bought a couple, and while you don’t get #deals like elsewhere online, I’d love it if y’all would consider buying your next gay book from them instead of like, Amazon.
Common Language is a great bookstore and while I’ve only been there once, I follow it on Instagram and really want to see it succeed!
This post is only a few days old, so let’s keep the ball rolling!
everyone, especially trans lesbians and gay trans men, should be sure to block & report a blog that’s shown up here recently called “youre-not-passing” which reblogs mostly trans lesbian and gay trans men’s selfies with nothing but insults and deliberate misgendering. quite a few members of our community have already been targeted by the terf running the blog, along with their followers. please be on the lookout and be safe. if enough people report them, hopefully their blog will be removed, but in the meantime i advise you all to block the blog so that you’re not targeted, i also encourage everyone to reach out to those who have been targeted and make sure they’re okay and give them some love and validation. be safe y’all
also PLEASE reblog this and share with other people so they’re aware !!!! i just wanna make sure everyone’s safe
Hey trans day of visibility is coming up soon (March 31st) and there’s going to be a lot of selfies posted so please signal boost this post
To my fellow Canucks who are low on funds for food – Loblaws (Superstore) got caught in a price-fixing scam on bread and is now letting people start the process to sign up for $25 gift cards to make up for that. Go to the site and register. You’ll have to fill out a form eventually, but you can start the process now.
hello friends do you ever wish you could chase ted cruz’s disembodied head around a game board and then punch it repeatedly, accompanied by cheesy 8-bit sound effects? do you enjoy software coded by someone with the skills of a distracted fourth-grader? how about crappy animation, no coherent narrative, an extremely gay color scheme, and some gratuitous hanukkah-themed elements thrown in for no reason at all except one of my kids thought it would be a good idea? well have i got a game for you!
please give it a try and let me know about all the bugs you find! you will find plenty because i don’t actually know how to make a video game and the code is held together with duct tape and chewing gum! but if you are a tumblr user you are probably used to that! sorry doesn’t work on touch screens it is a keyboard-controlled game! please let me know what you think!
“A medical professor who has tracked the cost of insulin over the
years says that a one-month supply of a popular version that cost $45
wholesale in 2001 cost $1,447 14 years later, an increase of almost
3,000%. That’s the wholesale price, not the retail price that an
uninsured patient would pay.“
Yeah, that’s messed up.
Wow, it’s really rare I see something cross my dash that’s actually directly tied to my life on a personal level, but yea, I’m Diabetic Type 1 and this is a problem.
I’ve been off insurance for the last three or so years and have been working around through channel I can to continue to obtain insulin and supplies for my insulin pump (of which is currently a problem, fun) for free or at reduced costs.
The Lilly Cares program is one I heavily endorse if your insulin is a Lilly product. They’ve been incredibly helpful to me.
Please spread the word on this. There are a lot of young Diabetics like myself that do not have a support system, do not have insurance, and do not have jobs. Insulin is literally a life-sustaining medication for T1 Diabetics. Please do not just ignore this.
T1 diagnosed over 20 years ago here. Back when I was out of work in 2009 I contacted Lilly Cares and I swear I would not be alive if not for that program. T1s need insulin to live. Daily. Our bodies do not produce the hormone because our immune systems backfired and killed our pancreas’ islet cells.
These days one bottle of insulin costs me approx $600 (before insurance) and lasts 2-3 weeks, tops. Less than ten years ago the cost was closer to $200/bottle. The insulin manufacturers keep “tweaking” insulins like Humalog so the patents can be extended(*), so we don’t even have access to a generic option.
The price gouging on insulin in this country is cruel and damn disgusting.
Please, please boost this info. It WILL save lives.
(*) a fact that even my endocrinologist has confirmed!
Lilly Cares saved my husband’s life when he had no prescription drug coverage. Please, please utilize this program if you can. It’s wonderful.
Discord recently banned their nazi community. Let’s have Tumblr do the same. Hundreds of neo-nazi and white supremacists feel at home on Tumblr and that needs to change.
They don’t respond to reports and apparently won’t care about anything other than intense negative publicity – so this is the best we can do for now.
———————-
Following Discord’s recent shutdown of racist alt-right servers, we ask that Tumblr takes neo-nazis and other white supremacy groups more seriously instead of repeatedly ignoring reports on violent language.
I’ve reported several neo-nazi types to staff, including those who have posts like “gas the k-kes” and “kill n-gger apes” alongside nazi imagery and romanticized portraits of Hitler. This is the response I get every time.
> Hello,
> Thanks for bringing this to our attention; we really appreciate your efforts to make
> Tumblr a safer place for everyone.
> We do strongly suggest you block this user. You can find out more about how to
Tumblr staff – by ignoring the rampant and violent hate problem within their community – are providing a safe place for violent fascists and other racists to feel at home.
This specially ironic since Tumblr pretends to stand with Charlottesville victims despite actively hosting neo-nazi groups (look under the tag #fashblr).
It’s outrageous that Tumblr staff refuses to ban these hate communities, and even more insulting that they pretend to be at the forefront of social justice. We want our communities to feel safe, and that cannot continue with the large neo-nazi presence. Multiple have already died in the past few months because of this ideology.
It’s clear that Tumblr will not respond to anything except negative publicity or advertisers leaving their network. So please let them know how the Tumblr community feels by signing and sharing.
What we need to happen:
1. Take reports more seriously. Do not just ask the user to block a dangerous user.
2. Explicitly condemn this hate speech in your Terms of Service. Although it already is to an extent, staff does not seem to follow their own rules.
3. Stop giving a safe place for Nazis and white nationalists. This behavior has NO place on Tumblr and you must remove those inciting hatred and violence.
4. Assign moderators to deal with this issue internally.
I’m Charlie. I’m a trans dude who has been fairly active in the community here in NYC for well over a decade. My colleagues and I at the Hunter HIV/AIDS Research Team (HART) have developed a national survey that seeks to quantify various indicators of the physical, sexual, and emotional health of men and nonbinary individuals of trans masculine experience. This survey was developed through one on one interviews with a diverse group of 30 trans masculine participants, documenting a wide range of wants and needs for the future provision of transgender health.
We launched this survey on Facebook one week ago, and the response so far has already been overwhelming, having received entries from hundreds of transmasculine participants. Help us out with a reblog to spread the word? I am an Old Millenial thus I am not very good at tumblr.
As a heads up: the survey is pretty long. People gave us such meaningful and diverse stories in the interviews that there was a lot here we wanted to be able to capture here. Folks should plan to spend around 20-30 minutes on it, and know that if you want to take a break and come back, you can pick up where you left off as long as you haven’t cleared your browser cache. Please keep sharing, particularly with folks we don’t usually get to see/hear from, like POC, nonbinary transmascs, folks who have had bottom surgery or have given birth, and people in rural areas. This study was funded by the NIH, so we have the opportunity to show that we exist and that our needs are important – on a federal level. In this postapocalyptic hellscape that is the current US administration, having data on the needs of vulnerable communities is powerful ammunition. Compensation is available through a raffle of 10 $100 gift cards, and we are working to see if we can get more. The survey is mobile phone friendly and compatible with screen reading assistive tech.
We’re working on posting it around on other social media platforms, so to keep up to date as those roll out, feel free to follow us on our FB page at https://www.facebook.com/TMHealthSurvey/
Endless thanks for all your help on getting the word out. We couldn’t do this without the outpouring of community support we’ve received, and we are so grateful for everyone who has contributed to getting this off the ground and out into the world. If you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to DM me or email my colleague Gus Klein (gklein@gradcenter.cuny.edu).
As the number mumps cases continues to rise, Alberta Health Services (AHS) is responding by expanding the scope of the outbreak to include the entire Edmonton zone.
According to an AHS news release, as of March 28, 51 cases of mumps have been confirmed in Alberta so far this year, 24 of which are in Edmonton Zone.
The outbreak had previously been declared specific to the University of Alberta. In February, the University confirmed four cases of mumps at its main campus.
AHS is recommending anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Edmonton, and was born in or after 1970, receive up to two free doses of the vaccine.
“To stop the further spread of illness, and protect ourselves and our loved ones, we encourage all Edmonton Zone residents to ensure that they are up to date with all of their immunizations,” said Dr. Joanna Oda, zone medical officer of health with AHS. “If you’re unsure of your immunization status, call Health Link at 811 or your local public health centre.”
Anyone born before 1970 is assumed to be immune to the mumps because of the disease’s prevalence during that time. Anyone who has already received at least two doses of the vaccine does not require any additional doses.
